{"id":1012,"date":"2023-07-30T02:11:23","date_gmt":"2023-07-30T02:11:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=1012"},"modified":"2023-07-30T02:11:27","modified_gmt":"2023-07-30T02:11:27","slug":"consequences-ix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=1012","title":{"rendered":"Consequences IX"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Therefore thus says the Lord\u00a0concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, \u201cHe shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.\u00a0I will also punish him and his descendants and his servants for their iniquity, and I will bring on them and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the men of Judah all the calamity that I have declared to them\u2014but they did not listen.\u201d\u00a0 (Jeremiah 36:30-31, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>King Jehoiakim did evil in the sight of the Lord, unlike his father, Josiah.\u00a0 He undid all the good things his father did, bringing back idol worship.\u00a0 The Prophet Jeremiah, who warned Judah during Josiah&#8217;s and Jehoiakim&#8217;s reigns, was commanded by God to write down everything that He had told him.\u00a0 Jeremiah dictated to his scribe Baruch, who then took the scroll to the Temple, and read it in the presence of some of the king&#8217;s aides.\u00a0 When they took the scroll to King Jehoiakim, he tossed the scroll into his fireplace.\u00a0 Hence Jeremiah&#8217;s warning which you have read above.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"592\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-8.png?resize=525%2C592&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1013\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-8.png?w=778&amp;ssl=1 778w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-8.png?resize=266%2C300&amp;ssl=1 266w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-8.png?resize=768%2C866&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Jehoiakim burns Jeremiah&#8217;s scroll; Our God keeps His promises!&nbsp; When Josiah died, Jehoiakim&#8217;s younger brother, Jehoahaz, became king.&nbsp; But he reigned for only three months, when Pharaoh Neco captured him and took him to exile to Egypt.&nbsp; Neco then placed Jehoiakim on the throne.&nbsp; He reigned for 11 years.&nbsp; Eventually, Judah was defeated by King Nebuchadnezzar, and the people were mostly deported to Babylon.&nbsp; All because the people and their kings did not listen to the word of God though the prophets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God doesn&#8217;t like it when we ignore Him.\u00a0 He wants to have a relationship with us, but according to His word, that&#8217;s only possible by believing in His Son, Jesus.\u00a0 This is my hope:\u00a0 Because I believe in Jesus, I&#8217;ll have eternal life in heaven with Him!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CeCe Winans - Goodness of God (Official Lyric Video)\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-AwLTeMyq20?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
