{"id":1020,"date":"2023-08-06T19:36:32","date_gmt":"2023-08-06T19:36:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=1020"},"modified":"2023-08-06T19:36:37","modified_gmt":"2023-08-06T19:36:37","slug":"new-covenant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=1020","title":{"rendered":"New Covenant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cBehold, days are coming,\u201d declares the Lord, \u201cwhen I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,\u00a0not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they\u00a0broke, although I was a husband to them,\u201d declares the Lord.\u00a0\u201cBut this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,\u201d declares the Lord, \u201cI will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.\u00a0They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, \u2018Know the Lord,\u2019 for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,\u201d declares the Lord, &#8220;for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.&#8221;\u00a0Thus says the Lord,\u00a0Who gives the sun for light by day\u00a0And the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night,\u00a0Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar;\u00a0The Lord\u00a0of hosts is His name:\u00a0\u201cIf this fixed order depart\u00a0from before Me,\u201d declares the Lord,\u00a0\u201cThen the offspring of Israel also will cease\u00a0From being a nation before Me forever.\u201d\u00a0 (Jeremiah 31:31-36, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the passage above, God, through His Prophet Jeremiah, announces a New Covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.&nbsp; This New Covenant will not be like the covenant in place then, which Israel continually broke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This New Covenant would have the following characteristics:\u00a0 &#8220;I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it&#8221;; God promises that He will be their God, and they shall be His people; there&#8217;ll be no need to teach about God because everyone in heaven will know all about Him; and God &#8220;will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.&#8221;\u00a0 Further, God declares that if the sun doesn&#8217;t appear by day, and the moon and the stars by night, and the sea doesn&#8217;t churn, then Israel shall cease to be.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"699\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image-1.png?resize=525%2C699&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1021\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image-1.png?resize=769%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 769w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image-1.png?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image-1.png?resize=768%2C1023&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadmannotwalking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image-1.png?w=1024&amp;ssl=1 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Horace Vernet, Jeremiah on the Ruins of Jerusalem (1844).\u00a0 Found at Wikipedia,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeremiah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeremiah<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The New Covenant will not only be for Israel, but for all peoples everywhere!\u00a0 This covenant would also not be based on the Law of Moses, but on the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus.\u00a0 Bible scholars have counted 613 commandments in the Torah.\u00a0 No human being could ever abide in accordance with them.\u00a0 We&#8217;re all sinners, every one of us.\u00a0 God knows this, He created us.\u00a0 Yet He wants to have a relationship with us.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why He sent His Son Jesus to the earth.\u00a0 Jesus became sin for us, and took the punishment and execution we deserve for our sins.\u00a0 The provisions of the New Covenant are that we humans get to choose where we spend eternity, either in heaven or hell.\u00a0 If we choose Jesus, we&#8217;ll spend eternity with God in His heavenly kingdom.\u00a0 Which do you choose?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Let The Peace Of God Reign - Hillsong Worship\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/adhfUSF2x-4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
