\u201cDo not judge so that you will not be judged.\u00a0For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.\u00a0Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother\u2019s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?\u00a0Or how can you say to your brother, \u2018Let me take the speck out of your eye,\u2019 and behold, the log is in your own eye?\u00a0You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother\u2019s eye.”<\/mark>\u00a0\u00a0(Matthew 7:1-5, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bible passage above is from Matthew’s account of the Sermon on the Mount.  Jesus is talking about judging other people. Jesus says that if we judge others, then God will use the same standard of judgment against us.  Why is Jesus talking about this?  Because He knows us, and He knows how judgmental we can be.  He knows that we are hypocrites. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus talks about specks and logs as a way of speaking about our hypocrisy.  Why should we be critical of another person who is guilty of the same sins as we?  Unfortunately, that’s the human condition.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To escape from this hypocrisy, we need Jesus.  There’s no other way.  To escape from this world of critical spirits and judgment means a trip to heaven, and that means we must put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ.  He is where my hope lies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
