and he called His name Jesus.\u00a0 (Matthew 1:24-25,NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know very little about Joseph, the earthly, legal father of Jesus.&nbsp; The Bible teaches us that Joseph&#8217;s father was named Jacob, and that Joseph was the husband of Mary (Matthew 1:16); that Joseph was a righteous man (v. 19); he was obedient to God&#8217;s commands (vv. 24-25); he was a descendant of King David (Luke 2:4); and Joseph was a carpenter (Matthew 13:55).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the passage above, Joseph had found his fiance with Child, and was pondering divorce.&nbsp; found at Opus Dei,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/opusdei.org\/en\/article\/year-of-saint-joseph-begins-with-a-father-s-heart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/opusdei.org\/en\/article\/year-of-saint-joseph-begins-with-a-father-s-heart\/<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We all know that Joseph took his wife to Bethlehem to take part in the census proclaimed by Caesar Augustus, and that Mary gave birth to Jesus there.\u00a0 All indications are that Joseph was &#8220;a righteous man,&#8221; which was why God chose him to raise His Son.\u00a0 Jesus grew up in a devout Jewish home, which was God&#8217;s plan.\u00a0 Jesus was an obedient son to Mary and Joseph:\u00a0 &#8220;. . . and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart.&#8221;\u00a0 (Luke 2:51)\u00a0 Jesus was a great example to all of us as He grew up, honoring His father and mother.\u00a0 Joseph disappears from the Bible narrative after Jesus was a young Man.\u00a0 We presume he died before Jesus&#8217; public ministry.\u00a0 But he kept God&#8217;s commands, and raised His Son.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we don&#8217;t know a lot about Joseph, we do know he was righteous, and kept God&#8217;s commands.\u00a0 He set a great example for us, bringing his adopted son up according to biblical principles.\u00a0 God trusted Joseph to bring up His Son in a devout home.\u00a0 And Joseph did just that!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joseph&#039;s Song by Michael Card.wmv\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KT4VDAIaMwU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
