{"id":806,"date":"2023-01-30T11:41:02","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T11:41:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=806"},"modified":"2023-01-30T11:41:07","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T11:41:07","slug":"jobs-redeemer-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=806","title":{"rendered":"Job&#8217;s Redeemer Lives!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>O that a man might plead with God\u00a0a6s a man with his neighbor!\u00a0 (Job 16:21, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,&nbsp;And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.&nbsp;Even after my skin is destroyed,&nbsp;Yet from my flesh I shall see God;&nbsp;Whom I myself shall behold,&nbsp;And whom my eyes will see and not another.&nbsp;My heart faints within me!&nbsp; (Job 19:25-27, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Job had been messed up by Satan.&nbsp; &#8220;Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. And he took a potsherd to scrape himself while he was sitting among the ashes.&#8221;&nbsp; (Job 2:7-8)&nbsp; This was after Satan killed all Job&#8217;s livestock, his children, and almost all of his servants.&nbsp; He must have been a sight, covered with boils from head to toe.&nbsp; Mrs. Job even wanted him to &#8220;curse God and die.&#8221;&nbsp; (Job 2:9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then Job&#8217;s friends showed up.&nbsp; They acted like friends for a week, sitting in the ashes, mourning with him.&nbsp; When Job started cursing the day he was born, and wondering how God could let this happen to him, they began to tell him how wicked he was.&nbsp; &#8220;With friends like these, . . . &#8221;&nbsp; Job&#8217;s discourses include both of the passages above.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/ZUpEF5BIKZ62hofTb26I2yImJGc4dQw-zYOmuaXLn_t91yV2UEojmmhLVUAxnq-YL5k7PZ9R3zLGxu0IqZ2DbTvbvFMTl0__0EhGefPqTji07RxmtJtclaEegtpABaMtSAREBMwL4yOeU-dUeLk5Ee3Zzh1PhEWWPSkbgA0Efkufm0yw8QRL7oqcee52Zh1hEKnKVQcafVRE-rEtYACmPr3iNI11lRu0YG06MhiTGoY_6Ww-d_KqAV86svcJk2ft_tzXG7rxnkMXs-jyayi511VS_u6_E2e5kNBvt56kHbuImJsgT4pWoqTY8DDKiRzJQJLEx8KUMYlf20G0ygVpJlAymPhpxH5p_uxEIgGSQGtXV_ik=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.6435-9\/120089429_10158812566343979_4749094882047898936_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&amp;ccb=1-7&amp;_nc_sid=9267fe&amp;_nc_ohc=4y1pwiEOZhoAX_wlxg5&amp;_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&amp;oh=00_AfAirIolxbHz7zlHbFFqGs6v687H30ligHkYOR5AGkf3Uw&amp;oe=63FE4B2E\" alt=\"No photo description available.\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Job 19:25 image.\u00a0 Found at Facebook, New Living Translation,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NewLivingTranslation\/photos\/a.180737063978\/10158812566333979\/?type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NewLivingTranslation\/photos\/a.180737063978\/10158812566333979\/?type=3<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first verse above, Job pleads &#8220;that a man might plead with God As a man with his neighbor!&#8221;&nbsp; Today, Jesus-believers have an Advocate with God the Father in Jesus Christ Himself!&nbsp; Job, of course, did not know of Jesus, but as we see later in the story, God was listening, and came to remind Job of just Who He is, and to put Job&#8217;s &#8220;friends&#8221; in their place.&nbsp; God is ALWAYS listening!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second passage, Job professes to know that &#8220;[his] Redeemer lives.&#8221;&nbsp; Indeed He does!&nbsp; Job was prescient to believe that he would see God in the end.&nbsp; Job had faith, even though he had lost everything, and he was painfully sick.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Job&#8217;s &#8220;friends&#8221; fell into the trap of believing that if something bad happens, it&#8217;s because a person did something bad, or he&#8217;s just a bad person.&nbsp; This is bad theology.&nbsp; Bad things happen to good people.&nbsp; Jesus said we would have troubles in this world.&nbsp; Jesus also said that troubles would reveal the glory of God!&nbsp; Job had hope that he would someday see his Redeemer.&nbsp; That&#8217;s MY hope too!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Nicole C.
