{"id":841,"date":"2023-03-03T13:08:45","date_gmt":"2023-03-03T13:08:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=841"},"modified":"2023-03-03T13:08:49","modified_gmt":"2023-03-03T13:08:49","slug":"johns-testimony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=841","title":{"rendered":"John&#8217;s Testimony"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, \u201cBehold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!&#8221; . . .&nbsp;John testified saying, \u201cI have seen&nbsp;the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.&nbsp;I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize&nbsp;in water said to me, \u2018He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.\u2019&nbsp;I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.\u201d&nbsp; (John 1:29, 32-34, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John was baptizing people at the River Jordan.&nbsp; He saw a Man approaching, but had no idea Who He was.&nbsp; He saw &#8220;the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.&#8221;&nbsp; God told him that this was Jesus, His Son.&nbsp; But John was explaining an earlier statement which he had made, &#8220;Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.&#8221;&nbsp; It&#8217;s this statement that&#8217;s interesting in this season of Lent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/r6S9hmxCNx4ahgdGLs6FA-RwBpfZUAvXddSmbvqynKHnvikY_zuPQnORIlzFVmbOAlv2Y3wGhFz93Bg0qLgGKDYLEz0mJaDfh1gjItmlzxhnRfxzvr5Q26B6XWezpwUKX4FzbqF12S9mhl0a_Qyl6exhN5fCvHWWztS_1JpSB0g=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/9\/95\/Titian_-_St_John_the_Baptist_in_the_Desert_-_WGA22807.jpg\" alt=\"Titian - St John the Baptist in the Desert - WGA22807.jpg\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">&#8220;St. John the Baptist in the Desert,&#8221; by Titian, c. 1542.\u00a0 Found at Wikipedia,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_the_Baptist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_the_Baptist<\/a>.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>John&#8217;s proclamation was prescient in how Jesus was to die, as a sacrifice which would &#8220;take away the sin of the world.&#8221;\u00a0 Whereas the Law of Moses called for a spotless, unblemished animal to sacrifice to atone for sins, Jesus was the ultimate Sacrifice.\u00a0 He lived a perfect life, free from sin, so that He would be an acceptable sacrifice to the Father.\u00a0 He was, and is, the spotless Lamb of God.\u00a0 Hope has a name:\u00a0 Jesus.\u00a0 If we accept His sacrifice, then we&#8217;ll escape the death we deserve for our sins.\u00a0 Behold, the Lamb of God Who takes away my sin.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Darlene Zschech - I Am Yours | Official Live Video\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qfeeqF9bh9s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Worship:\u00a0 &#8220;I Am Yours,&#8221; by Darlene Zschech and Michael W.
