{"id":888,"date":"2023-04-15T22:03:35","date_gmt":"2023-04-15T22:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=888"},"modified":"2023-04-15T22:03:40","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T22:03:40","slug":"god-wants-us-to-obey-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=888","title":{"rendered":"God Wants Us to Obey Him"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Samuel said,\u00a0\u201cHas the LORD\u00a0as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices\u00a0As in obeying the voice of the LORD?\u00a0Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,\u00a0And\u00a0to heed than the fat of rams.\u00a0For rebellion is as the sin of divination,\u00a0And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry.\u00a0Because you have rejected the word of the LORD,\u00a0He has also rejected you from\u00a0being\u00a0king.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0(1 Samuel 15:22-23, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Bible passage above, the Prophet\/Judge Samuel is berating King Saul.\u00a0 God&#8217;s instructions to Saul, through Samuel, were to wage war against Amalek, and to &#8220;utterly destroy&#8221; all the people and their animals.\u00a0 (The Amalekites had refused passage of the Israelites during their 40-year journey through the wilderness)\u00a0 When Saul had completed his mission, he &#8220;captured Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
