{"id":890,"date":"2023-04-18T01:17:01","date_gmt":"2023-04-18T01:17:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=890"},"modified":"2023-04-18T01:17:06","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T01:17:06","slug":"sing-praises-to-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=890","title":{"rendered":"Sing Praises to God!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me,\u00a0For my soul takes refuge in You;\u00a0And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge\u00a0Until destruction passes by.\u00a0I will cry to God Most High,\u00a0To God who accomplishes\u00a0all things\u00a0for me\u00a0. . .\u00a0Be exalted above the heavens, O God;\u00a0Let\u00a0Your glory\u00a0be\u00a0above all the earth\u00a0. . .\u00a0My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;\u00a0I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!\u00a0. . .\u00a0I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the peoples;\u00a0I will sing praises to You among the nations.\u00a0For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens\u00a0And Your truth to the clouds.\u00a0Be exalted above the heavens, O God;\u00a0Let\u00a0Your glory\u00a0be\u00a0above all the earth.\u00a0 \u00a0(Psalm 57:1-2, 5, 7, 9-11, NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David wrote many psalms while King Saul and others were chasing him and trying to kill him.\u00a0 Psalm 57 is one of them.\u00a0 The title of this psalm is &#8220;Prayer for Rescue from Persecutors.&#8221;\u00a0 When David became aware that King Saul wanted to kill him, David &#8220;escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father\u2019s household heard of it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.&#8221;\u00a0 (1 Samuel 22:1-2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David begins by praying that God would be gracious to him.&nbsp; He prays for refuge &#8220;in the shadow of [His] wings.&#8221;&nbsp; Under the shadow of God&#8217;s wings is the ultimate in protection!&nbsp; David says he needs this protection &#8220;until destruction passes by.&#8221;&nbsp; David testifies that &#8220;I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me.&#8221;&nbsp; Amen!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/My6Yb42OD0UAGJGEIlM1cSfgL758vC9bskPPx_8DXX1IRlegx-3M1killC1f6oJGDEr2sqC_bkrk5AmDPYaw4xILfbrRM-R64ssXGHiGQbA-K02glF_-iXp-Lr9L4VpiEpymxDaEnQeZgFGvQITtOE4umnSoHboeOoRNE8o=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/worshiparts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Verse23-Psalm108.5.jpg?resize=720%2C380&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"Psalm 108:5\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Psalm 108:5 image.
