{"id":906,"date":"2023-05-03T11:39:02","date_gmt":"2023-05-03T11:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=906"},"modified":"2023-05-03T11:39:06","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T11:39:06","slug":"help-in-times-of-trouble","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadmannotwalking.org\/?p=906","title":{"rendered":"Help in Times of Trouble"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>And David spoke the words of this song to the Lord\u00a0in the day that the Lord\u00a0delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.\u00a0He said, \u201cThe Lord\u00a0is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;\u00a0My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,\u00a0My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge;\u00a0My savior, You save me from violence.\u00a0I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,\u00a0And I am saved from my enemies.&#8221;\u00a0 (2 Samuel 22:1-4,NASB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The author of 2nd Samuel reports that King David wrote a song of thanksgiving to God for rescuing him from his enemies.\u00a0 David had been chased by King Saul, who intended to kill him; he was displaced on the throne by his son Absolom, who also chased him and wanted to kill him; and finally, when David regained his throne, he survived a rebellion from another tribe seeking to displace and replace him.\u00a0 This song is also repeated in Psalm 18.\u00a0<br>King David is truly thankful that God has delivered him from his enemies.\u00a0 He uses many words that denote safety and security:\u00a0 rock; fortress; deliverer; refuge; shield; horn; and stronghold.\u00a0 David leaves no doubt as to Who is responsible for his well being:\u00a0 &#8220;My savior, You save me from violence.&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0And finally, King David tells us Who he will call on in times of trouble:\u00a0 &#8220;I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/_tSqjAmURHZt3Tryx2WCXOmzDQn4JOGWWJbi0pXYdNrvT48HeGsxVN9DH0aokkNnZ5xUudVrdxBTZv0Bz5huoYh3S0LoHkifwWTqLAwl02om70gEDg=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FkD-uvRWQAUt0Bs?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Psalm 18:3 image.\u00a0 Found at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/labikam\/status\/1603561564271005696\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/labikam\/status\/1603561564271005696<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>God does indeed deliver us during times of trouble.\u00a0 He performs all the roles that King David lists in his song.\u00a0 God alone is our Rock;
